Disneyland guests left without BATHROOMS in city-wide water crisis

Disneyland guests are feeling flushed after a major water issue left the Anaheim theme park without running water – or restrooms. 

The unexpected outage hit large sections of Anaheim after 6pm on Tuesday, July 28, when a technical issue with the city’s groundwater system caused water pressure to plummet. 

The disruption impacted Angel Stadium, H๏τels, restaurants and businesses throughout the city – but for thousands of guests inside Disney’s premier resort, the most immediate concern was the lack of tap water or restroom access.

Without running water, bathrooms across Disneyland Park and Downtown Disney were closed, leaving long lines, confusion and growing frustration as temperatures remained warm during the summer evening.

‘Disneyland Park and Downtown Disney in Anaheim currently have zero running water meaning zero restrooms anywhere and no restaurants or bars can seat anyone,’ one X user wrote. ‘Do not come to Disneyland today it’s utter chaos.’

Videos on social media showed Disneyland cast members standing in front of bathrooms and directing guests away. Some Disney fans even took to Reddit, sharing their reactions to the update. 

‘I feel like that’s cause to close down the park if they don’t have running water,’ one user wrote. 

‘Are the restrooms now accepting Lightning Lane,’ another Reddit user joked, referencing Disney’s ‘skip the line’ add-on.

Restaurants within Disneyland were devastated by the lack of running water. One social media user said they had a reservation for Carthay Circle – a sit-down, upscale restaurant in Disney’s California Adventure – but they were turned away because ‘all restaurants are currently closed.’

‘Can’t operate a kitchen safely with no H๏τ water,’ another chimed in. 

In a statement, Disneyland Resort said the water pressure issue temporarily impacted operations throughout the resort. As of Wednesday, July 29, the issue has been resolved. 

‘Our teams worked quickly to take care of affected guests, and we appreciate their flexibility,’ Disney’s statement read.

Roughly 75 percent of Anaheim’s water comes from groundwater wells, while the remaining 25 percent comes from the Colorado River. The city operates 14 groundwater wells in total, and officials said four of them were affected during Tuesday’s outage. 

‘We were unable to draw from those particular wells. Others were working fine, and we also utilized water from the Colorado River,’ Mike Lyster with the city of Anaheim said via ABC.

For some the decision for Disneyland not to immediately close its theme parks was a ‘biohazard issue.’

‘I was there,’ an Instagram user said. ‘For about 45 minutes to an hour they weren’t letting anyone in Disneyland use the bathroom. It went as you would expect it would go. Not good.’

Disneyland is Disney’s oldest theme park, currently celebrating its 70th anniversary – its also among the most expensive theme parks nationwide.

A recent Home to Go study revealed a typical visit to Disneyland now costs a whopping $331 per person.

Disney California Adventure, just steps away from the gates of Disneyland, matched the same eye-watering price tag, placing both resorts at the bottom of the affordability rankings.

This data comes as Disney fans continue to struggle with rising ticket prices that have steadily climbed over the past decade.

Standard one-day admission to Disneyland now ranges from $104 on the cheapest dates to as much as $224 during peak periods, depending on demand.
