Tucker Carlson ‘sought out EXORCIST’ after ‘demon attack’

Tucker Carlson came close to employing an exorcist following his purported demonic encounter two years ago, according to an ᴀssociate. 

Orthodox Christian writer Rod Dreher offered the never-before-heard detail during an appearance on The Jeremy Boreing Show.

Dreher was the documentarian whose October 2024 exchange with Carlson went viral after the former Fox star suddenly claimed he was ‘physically mauled’ by ‘a demon or by something unseen’ as he slept several months before.

Dreher discussed how Carlson sought him out well before the interview for his documentary was filmed. 

Carlson saw his then-friend’s expertise in Eastern Orthodoxy and demonology as potentially helpful, Dreher said.

‘And I said, wow, that if this is this really happened to you, you need to talk to an exorcist,’ Dreher told Boreing.

The author then recalled how he connected Carlson ‘with an exorcist I know,’ who subsequently ‘brought in a second’.

‘But Tucker decided he didn’t want to do that. He said, I’m too Protestant for that. This seems like witchcraft to me. That’s his actual word,’ Dreher said.

‘I went back. I still have the text saved. I went back to read them recently.

‘Tucker said exorcism seems like witchcraft.’

Dreher told Boreing how he had been confused by Carlson’s response, and struggled to see how a Catholic or an Orthodox exorcist could be construed as something negative.

‘I even offered to get a Protestant deliverance pastor for him. That wasn’t good enough for him,’ he told Boreing, one of the founders of The Daily Wire.

But Carlson ‘refused that sort of help,’ according to the author.

‘He told me he’d be fine, just him and the Bible,’ Dreher said.

The two then spoke about the incident on-camera for Dreher’s Christianities? documentary in October 2024. The film was released the following year.

‘I had four claw marks on either side, underneath my arm and left shoulder. And they were bleeding,’ Carlson, an Episcopalian, recalled in a promotional clip that went viral. ‘It didn’t make any sense and it doesn’t now.’

Carlson later told the story again to Megyn Kelly in November of last year, recalling being ‘clawed and bloodied’ by the ‘demon’ sometime in 2023.

‘I couldn’t breathe at all. My throat was closed.’ Carlson recalled. ‘I stand in the doorway of our bedroom and I’m like, “Wow, I’m dying.” 

‘I walked back in and my wife wakes up. She goes, “What is going on?”‘ he added. 

‘I said, “I don’t know. I I can’t breathe. I feel better now.” And all of a sudden, I had this horrible pain underneath my arms, uh, like on the side of my chest, like bad. 

‘I thought I’d been like ripped with a knife or something. It just was very intense. 

‘So I go into the bathroom, I flip on the light and I have claw marks on both sides, on the right and left side on my ribs. And they’re bleeding. And there are literally claw marks, you know, four on either side. 

‘I put my fingers in them, [they] don’t fit my fingers. And I sleep on my side. 

He added: ‘And by the way, no one woke up. So, I show my wife and she’s like. “Oh my gosh.”

 Carlson told the story to Megyn Kelly in 2025 as well, describing a dream in which he was ‘clawed and bloodied’ by a ‘demon’ in 2023 

‘And then I have this like crazy intense desire to read the Bible.’

Carlson also addressed the months of mockery his account spawned.

‘I don’t get anything out of making this up, and I’m not making it up,’ Carlson said.

He and Dreher were friends until the former’s October 2025 interview with Nick Fuentes, Dreher has previously said – citing rising rates of antisemitism amongst the Christian right.
